“A Certain Appetite” is a high-tension drama that unpacks legacy, loyalty and secrecy, one dinner course at a time. Set entirely in the dining room of the sherman estate, the film plays out following a a five-act production. Each dish triggers the discovery of a character.

Frances, the eldest, hides a real estate scandal buried by their now-dead father. Her husband, Stanford, is a trustworthy politician, is tangled in financial fraud and a quiet affair with frances’s sister, Phoebe. Phoebe is the black sheep. A failed writer who stole her father’s private journals and built a career on it. Her “boyfriend,” Asher, is actually a hired actor and failed author watching the plot unfold like the audience of the movie.Beneath them all, the staff watches. Amilia, the loyal maid, may have been closer to edward sherman than anyone realises. Florence, the junior maid, hears everything and observes diligently. And chef Gregory follows an exact plan.
